Meet the Team


Dr Bal Bahra

 Dentist

Dr Bahra was born and raised in England. She graduated from the University of Birmingham with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and started her own practice in London, which she ran for over 10 years. She moved to Australia with her husband and two young children over 15 years ago to live the Aussie lifestyle.


Dr Bahra is a firm believer in continuous education to maintain and improve the skills and techniques required to provide treatment at the highest standard. She has undertaken post-graduate education at the Eastman Dental Institute, University College London, a world-recognised centre for advanced education and training. Dr Bahra has attended numerous ongoing courses on a wide range of areas such as endodontics, periodontics, crown and bridge, cosmetic dentistry, and implants (Australian Society of Implant Dentistry).

She is a member of the Australian Dental Association.


Dr Bahra understands that many patients are extremely anxious and nervous when visiting the dentist. She will take the time to listen to your apprehensions, needs and wishes, and give you detailed explanations and a choice of solutions designed to meet your needs. She is a very empathetic and caring dentist, always putting the needs and concerns of the patient first.


Dr Heather Christian

 Dentist

Dr Heather Christian graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with honours from the University of Liverpool (UK) in 2013. She has gained valuable clinical experience working in private practice and specialist departments within dental hospitals. She has gained further qualifications including a Diploma of Membership of Faculty of Dental Surgery (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow), and a Postgraduate Certificate in Contemporary Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry. 


She moved to Sydney from the UK in 2017 and has gained a reputation as a caring and professional dentist. She is passionate about helping patients to improve their oral health and strives to deliver the best possible outcomes for her patients. She lives locally with her young family.

Dr Shagun Gandhi

Dentist

Dr Shagun Gandhi has Indian heritage, was born in Kenya, and grew up in Perth. She graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Western Australia in 2015. She moved to Sydney in 2020 after getting married in 2019.


Shagun is interested in all aspects of general dentistry, especially root canal treatment, and has a keen eye for detail. She is a member of the Australian Dental Association and regularly attends courses for continued professional development. Shagun prioritises getting to know each patient as an individual, and her gentle and compassionate nature allows even the most anxious patients to feel comfortable and relaxed. She is passionate about educating patients about the importance of maintaining good long-term oral health.


As well as English, Shagun also speaks Hindi, Gujarati and a little bit of French. In her spare time, she loves Indian dancing. She has recently taken up tennis, golf and running with her fitness-enthusiast husband.

Akira

Oral Health Therapist/

Hygienist

Akira is our passionate and caring Oral Health Therapist. She graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Oral Health. Oral Health Therapy is the gold standard for preventive dental care and ongoing maintenance, for patients of all ages.


Akira has been interested in dentistry for many years prior completing her course and loves the creative aspects of it. She works closely alongside Dr Bahra to ensure you receive the most holistic and thorough dental care. 


Her understanding, patient and warm approach puts even the most anxious children and adults at ease. Her mission is to educate and empower patients with a personalised and achievable oral health care plan, to prevent gum disease and maximise tooth longevity.


Akira has experience in public dental hospitals and private dental practices. In her spare time you’ll find her baking, walking her dog, crocheting, and enhancing her dental and general knowledge through reading and listening to podcasts. 

Karina

Clinical Coordinator

Karina is of Japanese descent and was born in Brazil. She studied Social Communication and Graphic Design at university before moving to Australia, looking for a different life and work experience. She has since found her love for working in dental health.


In her spare time, Karina loves exploring the city by bike, going on hikes and learning about different cultures - she speaks Portuguese and English fluently and is now learning French!

Paula

Receptionist/

Dental Assistant

Paula is from Chile with Italian heritage. She studied Business Administration and has a Master's Degree in Marketing. After working in the financial world for a few years, she decided to change her lifestyle, packed her bags and moved to Australia. Paula has now found her passion working in dental health, and is eager to continue developing her skills.


In her spare time, Paula enjoys to exercise, explore the different beaches of Sydney, and foster dogs. She speaks Spanish, English and practices her Italian every day too!

Ayako

Dental Assistant

Originally from Japan and having moved to Sydney over ten years ago, Ayako has a keen interest in all things dental. She has her Certificate III in Dental Assisting. She is passionate about her work, with a welcoming attitude and a warm, friendly smile.


In her spare time, Ayako enjoys travel, cooking and eating good food, and going to the beach with her two young sons.

Kayla

Receptionist/

Dental Assistant

Kayla has an amazing international background - she is of Finnish and Icelandic descent. She is also very well-travelled: she was born in England, has lived in Dubai and has lived in Australia since 2010. She has her Certificate III in Dental Assisting.


Kayla is one of the warm and friendly voices on the phone when you contact the practice, and a smiling face at the reception desk when you come and see us. She also works alongside Dr Bahra and Akira as a dental assistant.


Kayla loves to travel, and in her spare time she plays basketball, listens to music and enjoys good food at local restaurants.
